Jerry Seinfeld / David Bowie
October 2, 1999

[OPENING] Perot seeks ideal Reform candidate- I just didn't get it. It
was so weak for the very first sketch of the season. I mean, come
on...the writers had the entire summer and this was what they came up
with? Will Ferrell semi-saved it. 2/10

[MONOLOGUE] Jerry Seinfeld- Funny. One of the better monologue
efforts. Thank goodness Jerry didn't go into the audience for questions
(which is what I was expecting). It was funny. Watching "Aeropuerto"
on the Spanish channel cuz it's kinda like "Wings"? That cracked me
up! 8/10

[COMMERCIAL] www.clownpenis.fart- Hilarious! Definitely one of the very
few highlights of the show! 9/10

[SKETCH] Morning Latte- This skit is getting near its retirement (or at
least near a movie contract). The Spanish queer, finger-snapping,
hairdresser impression was pretty amusing. Jerry was pretty bland and
unmemorable. Finally, we see Cass's poor husband...dontcha just all
feel sorry for the guy, being married to her? 5/10

[SKETCH] Mary Katherine Gallagher goes for Jewish boy- Molly Shannon
gets so into the skit that it still managed to get a couple laughs from
me, but still extremely predictable. She embarrasses herself, recites a
monologue from a made-for-TV movie, and crashes into set. Jerry was
pretty funny. Jewish Boys! 7/10

[COMMERCIAL] Javis Home Security System- Hilarious! The second
highlight of the show. Ana Gastyer was so funny! "Who the hell are
you?" while Will dashes for the window! So unpredictable, but the
perfect way to end the commercial! 10/10

[SKETCH] Action 8 News Watch- It started out funny, but got so boring
and predictable that it was my opportunity to head to the kitchen. 5/10

[WEEKEND UPDATE] with Colin Quinn- What a sweet way to start the season
for WU. Colin was on and Jimmy's Seinfeld impression is right on the
money. 8.5/10

[MUSICAL GUEST] David Bowie- Who? This guy is so 1970's. Missed it.
N/A

[SKETCH] Oz- Absolutely classic! I loved the whole skit...working in
Seinfeld situations with hardcore criminals...only on Saturday Night
Live! 10/10

[SKETCH] 1-800-EAT SH**- Way too much like "Jingleheimer Junction" from
last season. The idea was old, but Will Ferrell's face when he was told
to go eat a big stinking piece of sh** was enough to save it from doom.
5/10

[SKETCH] ... and a Pizza Place- It had so much potential but never quite
reached it. Where did that whole Emmy thing fit in there? (Except the
pizza did look pretty amusing dressed up in a bow and ribbon) Pretty
lame...and it could have been so funny! 3/10

[MUSICAL GUEST] David Bowie- Whatev

[SKETCH] He's alive ... he's dead ... he's alive- Totally weird. But
it's always a hit to see the cast and guest crack up during a skit.
Jerry was funny when he was dead, then revived over and over. But
that's it! The rest was just...weird. 4/10

A pretty big disappointment. Jerry Seinfeld is only funny when he has
an awesome supporting cast (such as on his show), and he definitely had
that here, but no one was funny, so Jerry definitely wasn't. Everything
was so average (with the exception of Oz and the two commercials), and I
had such big hopes for the 25th season premiere. 5 overall.
