EPISODE REVIEWS

Norm Macdonald / Dr. Dre featuring Snoop Dogg & Eminem
October 23, 1999

Before I get started, I just have to say that before the show began, I was hoping and praying that this episode would be better than the season premiere. I didn't see last week's with Heather Graham, but from what I hear, the show is losing it's comedic edge.
[OPENING] Rudy Giuliani makes a World Series bet
Well, what can I say? It went a little long, but had some cute one-liners. Nothin' special. B-
[MONOLOGUE] Norm Macdonald
At first I couldn't believe that Norm said the show was going bad, but it really is since I laughed more at his monologue than any other sketch. B

[SKETCH] Martha Stewart Living promo
I liked it because it was different than the other Martha Stuart sketches, but they took it a little too far to the point of boring. Ana Gasteyer really looked like her though. B-

[SKETCH] Great Moments in Yankee History
I chuckled. B-

[SKETCH] Celebrity Jeopardy
They really need to give this one up. The ape tit thing was almost funny. C

[SKETCH] NBC Crosstalk: How Thin is Too Thin?
I didn't get the point, but the Calista Flockhart impression was pretty good. I'm glad they included their featured player in one sketch. But again, this went too long.C

[SKETCH] Larry King's News and Views
The dramatic pause was the best part, but they needed to use more cast members in this episode. B

[CARTOON] Fun with Real Audio
Can't really remember, I was getting bored. C

[SKETCH] Larry King's News and Views
See last one.

[WEEKEND UPDATE] Colin Quinn
Going downhill......C-

[MUSICAL GUEST] Dr. Dre featuring Snoop Dogg
Didn't want to watch. The weird thing is that I turned to MTV to see what was on, and it was playin' the video for that song. Creepy huh? I guess I had to hear it one way or another.
[SKETCH] The McMulluns argue at Halloween
Really bad. It was like "anti-Zimmermans". D

[SKETCH] Michael Jackson drowns his sorrows
I didn't know what the point was and it ended too abruptly for me to decide. I think it could have been funnier if they put more effort in it and included more cast members. C
[MUSICAL GUEST] Dr. Dre featuring Eminem

Actually, I really enjoyed this. B+

[SKETCH] Bravo's Inside the Actors Studio
Didn't watch, looked lame

[COMMERCIAL] Chess for Girls

Cute, but cookie cutter commercial. B-

Overall: C, if that even

After show thoughts: I tell all my friends that SNL is my favorite show, and that it's hilarious. Unfortunately, this episode didn't live up to my standards, or even come close. I don't know what's wrong, but this lack of funny needs to be stopped. I say we all storm down there and rewrite all the scripts. WHO'S WITH ME? Anyway, like I kept mentioning, they really needed to use more cast members. I'm a little biased, but I was looking for Chris Kattan, and was disappointed to not even see him in the end credits. It's nice to have another girl on the show, I only hope she'll bring fresh and fun ideas to the table. Where was Horatio by the way?
FINAL THOUGHT: It's got to get better from here.
