[OPENING] Star Wars Night Live

I had mixed feelings about this opener. It was cool to see a different kind of opening than the usual Clinton-Lewinsky schlock. But it was also a bit stupid because the stand-ins didn't seem to know what to do during the fight scene. What made them decide to have a Star Wars themed opener? Was it because the new Star Wars trailer came out in the same month? This was a strange one indeed.

[MONOLOGUE] Ben Stiller

Why did they have to have the friggin' Yankees there? That ruined it for me. Would they have had the Redsox or Dodgers appear there if either one of 'em had won the World Series instead of the Yankees? Of course not! Ben Stiller deserved his own damn monologue. Screw the Yankees!

Grade: D-

[SKETCH] Celebrity Jeopardy

I loved this!!! Jimmy Fallon does a dead pan Adam Sandler impersonation. Stiller does a good Cruise (as seen before on the long gone Ben Stiller Show which should still be on the air dammit!). And Darrell Hammond as Connery again saying: "I'll take Famous Tities for $100." had me rollin'.

Grade: A+

[SKETCH] Pretty Living

I love Molly Shannon to death. She is the most hilarious chick on the show (sorry Ana & Cheri). Every time she has a role where she shouts and jumps, I go insane with laughter. Stiller was funny as well.

Grade: A-

This has to be one of Smigel's best work. Just absolutely histerical.

Grade: A

[MUSICAL GUEST] Alanis Morrissette

I love Alanis and this song. Buy her latest CD. It's really awesome.

Grade: A

Colin Quinn was overshadowed by Jimmy Fallon's awesome comedic singing and songwriting talent. Jimmy is going to be the next Dana Carvey/Adam Sandler with all his impersonations and funny songs. I can't wait until he's a full-time cast member next year! Colin did alright, but it could have been better.

Grade: A+ (because of Fallon)

[SKETCH] A Romantic Halloween

I love this recurring sketch. Oteri and Kattan's on screen chemistry is just amazing. Very funny stuff.

Grade: A-

[SKETCH] Real Stories Of The Highway Patrol

Funny, but too bad they didn't do a COPS parody like Stiller did on his self titled sketch comedy show that was on FOX. But this was pretty cool. Ferrell was great as usual.

Grade: B+

[MUSICAL GUEST] Alanis Morrissette

Another great song and performance by the beautiful Alanis.

Grade: A

[SKETCH] Kevin & His Parents

This one was funny as hell. I can relate to it kind of since I live at home with my parents. I can see why he gets angry about little things like I sometimes do. Parnell and Gasteyer were funny too. Great ending lines - Parnell: "I can't wait die." Gasteyer: "I hear you."

Grade: B+

[SKETCH] Steve Wynn's Bellagio Hotel and Casino

Fairly funny sketch. Is Wynn a real guy? Is the hotel a real hotel? That's all for this one.

Grade: C

[SKETCH] The Election Campaign

I liked these commercials. I love when they have silly political commercials with 2 guys insulting each other. Very funny stuff. Best line - Meadows: "Or we'll get larger bats to come in to kill the smaller bats."

Grade: A

OVERALL REVIEW: A pretty decent episode. Stiller was off at some points, but otherwise he did excellent. The performers of the night were Fallon, Shannon, Ferrell, Oteri & Kattan. Alanis was awesome as usual. Some cool writing in this one. Lorne looks older every time he appears. But until next time...Long live SNL!!!
