John Goodman / Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers
April 10, 1999

[OPENING] Clinton goes back to lying: I like Darrell Hammond's Bill Clinton. Funny concept in skit, like "I did not...". Getting old though.
Grade: B+

[MONOLOGUE] John Goodman: Good monologue, although half of it was spent arguing with the lady who claimed it was a rerun. Good concept though.
Grade: B-

[SKETCH] Adult Literacy Program: Very funny. Didn't get some parts, but overall, very good.
Grade: B

[COMMERCIAL] Shaun Mondavi Vineyards: I thought this was very funny because my father works for a wine company. It probably didn't appeal to most people. I like it though.
Grade: A

[COMMERCIAL] CNN Newsstand: Another good concept. I like the CNN-Highlights teamup about Goofus and Gallant. Good job SNL!
Grade: A-

[SKETCH] Wrap It Up: My favorite sketch of the evening. I liked this because it was just plain funny.
Grade: A+++++++++++

[SKETCH] Hello Dolly: Another GREAT skit. I love the retarded dolls. This was a roll on the floor funny one too.
Grade: A++++

[WEEKEND UPDATE] with Colin Quinn: Funny as usual
Grade: A

[MUSICAL GUEST] Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers: Good performance. I never heard them before, but I like them.

[SKETCH] Santa gets drunk: What's the story? Lack of material?
Grade: D-

[SKETCH] Happy Smile Patrol: OK, but I liked Jingleheimer Juncton (Cameron Diaz episode)much better.
Grade: B+

[COMMERCIAL] VH1 Behind the Music: Bun E. Carlos: I don't know who he is, so I can't get it.
Grade: E

[MUSICAL GUEST] Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers: Another good performance.
Grade: A

[SKETCH] Whorehouse's data entry: Missed this one, it was too late!
Grade: -

Overall grade: C
