EPISODE REVIEWS
Alec Baldwin / Luciano Pavarotti
December 12, 1998
Overview - Sure, Alec hosts a lot. I feel like I know a lot about him, but the fact is I've only seen three of his movies, including his small part in Great Balls of Fire. I suppose that's not a bad thing. As for Pavarotti, it's kinda cool that he's there, but it's not like I have all (or any) of his albums. I like Vanessa all right.
President address - Great job thinking of creative ways to say "sorry." Not bad, for one of Darrell's last chances to do Clinton. :) B
Monologue - True, SNL is all that Darrell's got. And if Clinton gets impeached, PTTTT!! John Goodman really needs something to do, although it's great that he's coming back. You know how we've been joking about him joining the cast? Apparantly it happens in 2011. :) If it did, that would be hilarious. Oh yeah, great monologue. A+!!!
Commercial: NBA on NBC - Great, but I miss basketball. A-
Morning Latte - This sketch is never great, but it's never terrible. This is one of Alec's low points of the night (not being the "eccentric" producer) but not bad. As for the hosts, eh. C-
Cassidy - Oh my God, Canteen Boy flashback! At least this one was funny. A
TV Funhouse: Lost Cartoon Flashback - The Globetrotters never lose, even if it is our Lord Jesus Christ they're playing. Jesus must be frowning down on Robert Smigel for that one. Not bad from my standpoint, though. B+
Commerical - Call Collect: Ain't it the truth? Let me try. 10-10-5-28-1830-242-3-316-68-22! Okay, so I took notes, sue me. B-
Pavarotti/Williams - Wow! Wonder how long it took Vanessa and the boys to get that other language down pat. Pavarotti was all right, too. A
Weekend Update - Colin has his ups and his WAY UP's!!! This was one of the latter. Good song by "Kwanzaa Timmy." A-
Delicious Dish - Oh my God, I had a coronary laughing at this one! The "balls" jokes were funny, and the fact that this was the Delicious Dish sketch was the icing on the cake, complete with sprinkles! A+
Impeachment Procedures - Hmm, OJ, your comments about Clinton remind me of someone else, who could that be? A-
Chanukah Hymns - I liked the "Don't Pronounce the Letter "C" thing, but for the rest of it, just try and stop me. C!
Bill Brasky - Great to see the big SOB back! A+
Overall - Know how I said the Joan Allen show was my all-time favourite? Make that number two now! I have a few friends who are Drew Carey fanatics and threw a fit when he cancelled this episode. Well, I sure hope they understand. The new champion! Alec Baldwin, 12/12/1998, and the rest of the 1998-99 season! A++++++++!!!
