Matthew Perry / Oasis

[OPENING] Spartan Cheerleader wanna-bees Craig & Arianna
I'm not really a Spartan Cheerleader fan but I thought this skit wasn't that bad. I'm glad that they put it in the beginning of the show. Will Ferrell and Cheri Oteri were great as usual. Good opening.
Grade: B+
[MONOLOGUE] Matthew Perry
This was a great monologue! I like the idea of Matthew Perry trying to find people to dance around in a fountain with him. The best part is when he asked the old lady and she said "F--k off!" I also liked it when he said his name was David Schwimmer when the gay guy said "Yes" to his question.
Grade: A
[COMMERCIAL] Cookie Dough Sport Drink
I must have missed this one.
[SKETCH] Celebrity Jeopardy
I love these skits. Matthew Perry's impression of Michael Keaton was hilarious. Darrell Hammond's John Travolta could have been better. Norm MacDonald's Burt Reynolds is always entertaining. Will Ferrell was great as Alex Trebek. The highlight was when Trebek said "Shut Up" to Reynolds. Excellent and well-written.
Grade: A+
[SKETCH] Sarcasm 101
This was a pretty stupid skit. It wasn't well-written and the idea was stupid. I only liked Norm MacDonald as the dumb kid. "She looks like my dad!"
Grade: D+
[SKETCH] The Ladies' Man
Pretty good. Tim Meadows was fun to watch as "The Ladies' Man." Tracy Morgan was an okay character. I like the part when Meadows said, "At this time, The Ladies' Man would like to say that he doesn't want anymore phone calls about gayism." Well-written.
Grade: B
[SKETCH] Space the Infinite Frontier with Harry Caray
I was so happy they returned this skit. I loved the first time it aired on the Jeff Goldblum episode. Will Ferrell was so funny as Harry Caray. Matthew Perry did a good job too. I like it when Caray said, "Don't raise your voice at me!" and Perry said, "I didn't" and Caray replied, "Well just don't." Awesome!
Grade: A++
[WEEKEND UPDATE] with Norm MacDonald
I missed half of this but what I saw was pretty funny. The jokes were real original. The best one was when MacDonald said, "They are both WOMEN!" regarding the statement that said Anne Heche and Ellen DeGeneres wanted to have a baby. Norm is really showing some good comedy this season.
Grade: B
[MUSICAL GUEST] Oasis
I don't like Oasis.
[SKETCH] MTV News: Goat Boy press conference
I think this was just an excuse to get a Goat Boy skit in. But still, it was pretty funny. Will Ferrell's Willie Nelson was good I like Matthew Perry's catch phrase for his character. "I would just like to say that I'm sexy." Jim Breuer's Goat Boy is getting old.
Grade: B-
[COMMERCIAL] The Kevin Franklin Show promo
Didn't really think this was funny. I liked the second promo better.
Grade: C
[SKETCH] "Friends"
Why didn't they put this skit in place of "Sarcasm 101." It was excellent. The acting was terrific. Especially Chris Kattan as Ross and Cheri Oteri as Rachel. I liked it when Perry made fun of Kattan's acting. "And you Kattan, why don't you just stick to people that don't talk."
Grade: A
[MISCELLANEOUS] The Go Lords
What was the point of this skit? The ending was good but I still didn't like it.
Grade: C-
[SKETCH] Good Morning with Liza
Pretty good. Molly Shannon was entertaining as Liza Minneli. Matthew Perry was great as Woody Harrelson and Ana Gasteyer was okay as Andie MacDowell. The best part was when Liza needed a gas mask to get air after she sang.
Grade: B-
[COMMERCIAL] The Kevin Franklin Show promo 2
This one was a little better than the first one. Tim Meadows was better as the more mature Kevin Franklin. "It's not going to be a party, legally I can't even go near a party." Best line of both skits.
Grade: C+
OVERALL
Better show than Sylvester Stallone. A great way to kick off the season.
