October 4, 1997
[OPENING] Spartan Cheerleader wanna-bees Craig & Arianna
About time. The cheers were funny. These two are so funny, it's hard to explain.
Grade: B+
[MONOLOGUE] Matthew Perry
Did he seem nervous to you? This was like David Letterman a little too much. All in all, not to bad considering how bad an actor Perry is.
Grade: B
[COMMERCIAL] Cookie Dough Sport Drink
Great! Superb! Outrageous! It's going to be used way too much this season. Oh, well.
Grade: A+
[SKETCH] Celebrity Jeopardy
Once again, this great skit premise strikes again. Even with the bad impressions of Travolta and Keaton, it was great. Yes, Perry sucked. Hammond, who is one of the greatest impressionists, finally found someone he can't do. Still Funny.
Grade: B++
[SKETCH] Sarcasm 101
Without the great performance of the cast, this one would have fell flat. MacDonald was original and fresh.
Grade: B
[SKETCH] The Ladies' Man
What can I say? For some odd reason, this skit just seemed to work. I ... I just can't explain it. Weird.
Grade: A
[SKETCH] Space the Infinite Frontier with Harry Caray
I am so glad this skit made a reappearance. Ferrell was great!
Grade: A+
[WEEKEND UPDATE] with Norm MacDonald
Some really great jokes. Norm did his best.
Grade: B
[MUSICAL GUEST] Oasis
Nap time!!!
[SKETCH] MTV News: Goat Boy press conference
Perry did a good job, surprisingly. Not too bad. Good to see Kincaid back.
Grade: C+
[SKETCH] "Friends"
Even though the cast did a good job on the impressions, this one sucked.
Grade: D+
[MISCELLANEOUS] The Go Lords
Oh My God! What the Hell is this? That was my first reaction. That changed. Wonderful! Well see this one again. Even if we don't see the Go Lords, the dolls will be back.
Grade: A++
[SKETCH] Good Morning with Liza
Now the phrase, "What the Hell is this," is appropriate. The only good part was Perry's Woody Allen. A good impression that should have been in Jeopardy.
Grade: D
[COMMERCIAL] The Kevin Franklin Show promo
Uhhhh, this sucks.
Grade: D
OVERALL
Not too bad. The show ran in peaks and valleys. Oh, how Perry stinks.
