Andy's Sketch Rating System:

[OPENING] Spartan Cheerleader wanna-bees Craig & Arianna

Not the best Spartan ever, but pretty funny. This was probably second next to the Pamela Lee Spartan. I liked how they busted into the gym and were practicing. Also funny was that they were high on caffeine.

Rating: F4

[MONOLOGUE] Matthew Perry

A good monologue overall. The fountain scene was funny at first, but it wore out. It should've been shorter. "Wanna go into a fountain with me?" "**** off."

Rating: F3

[COMMERCIAL] Cookie Dough Sport Drink

This commercial surprisingly didn't sound all that different from commercials you really see. Pretty scary, huh? It was a hilarious idea, and I loved the motto, "Be the dough."

Rating: F4

[SKETCH] Celebrity Jeopardy

This was a very good Jeopardy! The categories were hilarious. "Shapes!" And the way that Alex Trebek (Will Farrell) stays so calm is hysterical!

Rating: F4

[SKETCH] Sarcasm 101

This was okay. There was no real point to it, but it's very original. In fact I think it's the most original sketch yet this season. They didn't try to copy a show or make their own show, it was just really different from all the others.

Rating: F3

[SKETCH] The Ladies' Man

This started out with an original idea, in the middle was the low point, but when the gay guy called the Ladies' Man, I laughed really hard. "You gotta keep that little secret to yourself ... "

Rating: F3

[SKETCH] Space the Infinite Frontier with Harry Caray

I personally liked the Jeff Goldblum Harry Caray better (Jeff was obviously much better at it), but this was pretty funny. His new line is becoming "Would you eat it?" and I have a feeling that that will get old in a while.

Rating: F4

[WEEKEND UPDATE] with Norm MacDonald

"Weekend Update" is going downhill fast. I used to think of it as the highlight of the show, but now hardly any of his jokes are really good, and they are usually about the same people (Janet Reno, O.J. Simpson, Michael Jackson, and Bill Clinton). "Note to Self" jokes are just a LITTLE* old now. *sarcastically

Rating: F1

[MUSICAL GUEST] Oasis

This was much better than the second one. I'd never heard either songs. None of the musical guests are playing any of their hit songs (Jamiraqui- Virtual Insanity, Oasis- Champagne Supernova/Wonderwall).

Rating: F1

[SKETCH] MTV News: Goat Boy press conference

A dumb but funny Goat Boy. Goat Boy's sound effects (eeeeaaaaaaaaaaeerrr) made the song hilarious! However, it still doesn't top the Pamela Lee Goat Boy with Jenny McCaaaaaaaaaaeeeeeeerthy.

Rating: F3

[COMMERCIAL] Kevin Franklin show promo

I loved this! All the talk shows claim to be better. "It's gonna be soooo different. Every night I'm gonna get up and talk to the audience all alone, and we're gonna call that a monologue! Woo, yeah!"

Rating: F4

[SKETCH] "Friends"

I just knew they were going to have a "Friends" parody. Overall a good sketch, but the idea of the characters admitting that it was a sketch wasn't funny at all.

Rating: F3

[MISCELLANEOUS] The Go Lords

This was probably meant to replace TV Funhouse. Well, I would've rather seen the Ambiguously Gay Duo any day, but it was okay for a replacement. I hope they bring TV Funhouse back, even though I hate the X-Presidents.

Rating: F2

[MUSICAL GUEST] Oasis

I really don't pay much attention to the musical guest. I usually rest my eyes during it, but I can still hear it.

Rating: F1

[SKETCH] Good Morning with Liza

Pretty good for the last sketch of the night. However, not as good as last week's Lou's Lovely Daughters. That was probably the funniest end-of-show sketch ever! "It's funny, the coffee here tastes like scotch." "It's coffee to me. IT'S COFFEE TO ME!!"

Rating: F3

[COMMERCIAL] Kevin Franklin show promo 2

Not as good as the first Kevin Franklin, but still extremely hysterical. I especially like the end about "Discovering Faith."

Rating: F4

OVERALL

This was a very good episode compared to the season premiere. Last week all the sketches were Sylvester Stallone this, and Sylvester Stallone that. I think "SNL" is making up for last week. They were pretty lazy for the season premiere. Anyway, my favorites were Harry Caray, Jeopardy, and Kevin Franklin.

Rating: F3
