[OPENING] Linda Tripp confronts Monica Lewinsky over dinner
Semi-funny, I always enjoy topical humor. I prefer Norm's Bob Dole over Dan Akroyds. Why was Dole even in this sketch? It seemed kinda like a last minute "we dont need you Norm" kind of thing.
[MONOLOGUE] John Goodman and Dan Aykroyd
The song was great! Does anyone know if this is a new song or an old standard? John Goodman stepped easily into the role of Elway's "brother".I also really liked Molly, Ana, and Cheri sing back-up.
[SKETCH] Morning Latte
This was better the first time aroud with Chris Farley as the heavy set producer, but i liked it anyway. It seems to me that when they repeat a sketch they should not use the *exact* same formula as the first one. Will and Cheri are hilarious as theese "Regis and Kathy" types, always wasting the viewer's time with idle chit-chat about their personal lives (or the producer's).
[SKETCH] Bill Clinton disagrees with several of the Ten Commandments
Goodman's Moses was pretty good and Darrell always does a great Clinton.I thought the funniest part was when Clinton supposedly had spoken with God and Moses was asking him what he looks like - "God does not wear a hat!"
[SKETCH] CBS World Of Sports: Eye On The Olympics
These guys were pretty funny, like when they showed their shopping trip - "Rudy, you get the gold medal in outrageousness!" Also how they kept insisting that Michelle Kwon is Japanese.
[TV FUNHOUSE] The X-Presidents
This was ok, if we're going to have a Smigel I'd much rather have a new Ambiguously Gay Duo.Best line was President Bush - "time for operation whup-ass" The "Aliens and Communists Are One and the Same" song at the end was good too.
[SKETCH] Emeril Live on the Food Network
This is where the show started to go downhill. Not funny at all, just Goodman playing Ginsberg begging Ken Star to call him and grant Monica Lewinsky immunity. This skit went nowhere.
[WEEKEND UPDATE] with Colin Quinn
I miss Norm, but i think Colin is doing a pretty good job, all things considered."Randy Graves" was the total frat boy character played by Will Ferrell. He just nails every character he does. The more I think about it, the more I'm sure Will is the MVP of SNL.
[MUSICAL GUEST] Paula Cole
Never heard of her.....oh wait I know this song and I don't care for it.Notice how the musical guest usually only gets one song lately?
[SKETCH] Judge Judy
This was a showcase for Dan Akroyd's old "Maimway" salesman character. I didnt like it in the seventies and guess what? It's still not funny.
[SKETCH] Martha Stewart Living promo
Um...no.Although I really like Ana, this is just not funny.Maybe its because the real Martha Stewart seems just as ridiculous.
[SKETCH] Sabado Chistoso
I guess this is a take-off on how cheesy the Spanish station seems to us. I think it woud be funnier for me if I knew Spanish. Also this was a continuation of the Food Network sketch with Ginsberg begging Ken Star to call him.
[SKETCH] When cobras attack
This was just dumb. There is no reason for them to ever do anything this un-funny ever again.
[SKETCH] Storytellers (with Neil Diamond)
Once again, Will is right on, this time with his Neil Diamond impersonation.I wonder how much of truth there is to this?
