Mayor Rudy Giuliani / Sarah McLachlan
November 22, 1997

Opening: This was not funny. Guliani made a nice try but the man could not act this part. By now I was bracing for a really awful show. Grade: D+

Monologue: This got very funny at the end when he talked about what he wanted to see done in New York now that its crime free. Grade: B

Nightline: I love Hammond's impressions. Whenever he does one, the skit is almost always funny, and this was no exception. Ferrell did a surprisingly good Hussein, too. Grade: A -

Rita and Thanksgiving: I only saw two 30 second snippets of this, but it looked really dumb from those two. Grade: N/A

Mary Katherine Gallagher: Even though the gag is old, this skit still finds some new way to be funny every time. Grade: A -

Graffiti Commercial: This was, with Perspectives, Guliani's best performance, by far......I think it's because he had time to act. It was a pretty good premise, something I do not find in SNL commericals nowadays. Grade: B +

Weekend Update: Sarah McLaughlan and Ana Gasteyer were hilarious! Easily one of the best of the year. Grade: A ++

The Joe Pesci Show: Tracy Morgan as Marion Barry was great (and living in Washington, D.C., it had a special significance for me), but Guliani's complete lack of any real acting ability showed the most in this skit, especially at the end. Grade : B - / C +

Taxi Driver: Guliani got old after awhile. The Voices in the taxi, though, were terrrific. Grade: B -

Janet Reno's Dance Party: I did something else when this came on. It is so old by now.....it is always the same bad jokes that they use. If there was something new, I wouldn't know, but otherwise, they need to stop showing this. Grade (if there was nothing new to it): D

Colin Quinn Explains the New York Times: Colin Quinn is very funny as a stand up comic, but that is not really what SNL is about, and this skit is a very thin disguise for Quinn's standup. Even though it makes me laugh, I don't think this is the kind of thing you really put as a recurring skit. Grade: C

Perspectives: I LOOOOVE this skit!! This is probably the best recurring skit on SNL right now. Guliani was actually a great actor in this one, but only because he was playing himself. Tim Meadows could make anybody on this show good, though, because his preformances are so great. Grade : A++++

Overall: A lot better than I thought, but still not that great, because, lets face it, Guliani, like every politician and sports star that's hosted, can't really act. Grade: B -
