Chris Farley / The Mighty Mighty Bosstones
October 25, 1997

[OPENING] Farley gets permission to host

This was the best opening all year. The best part was when Chevy Chase walked into Lorne's office claiming to be Farley's sponsor.

Grade: A-

[MONOLOGUE] Chris Farley

I was surprised at all the cameos that were on this show. A good part was when Farley had sex with Ana Gasteyer in 5 seconds. A good touch was when Tim Meadows was thrown off the stage and Chris Rock came on the stage to host.

Grade: A

[COMMERCIAL] Yum Bubble Genital Herpes Gum

This was the stupidest commercial they showed this season.

Grade: D+

[SKETCH] Morning Latte

It was a great idea to pair the two funniest people on the show into this skit (Cheri Oteri and Will Ferrell). I liked the big ass cups their coffee were in that made them so hyper. To highlight this skit was when Chris Farley made them shut up by saying, "Over the weekend you stupid Bitch!!" Surely to make the best of the 97-98 season.

Grade: A+

[SKETCH] Mary Katherine Gallagher

I'm not really a fan of this character. Chris Farley helped this out as the shy Catholic boy. It was a good idea to have both of them falling into things.

Grade: C+

[SKETCH] Matt Foley: Motivational Speaker

I loved this skit!! I knew they were going to have Farley bring back his funniest character. I liked his comments about his van down by the river and when he yelled at the class. Will Ferrell's bit was good.

Grade: A+

[WEEKEND UPDATE] with Norm MacDonald

This was a good "Update." The only bad thing was Tracy Morgan as the "Other Black Guy."

Grade: B

[MUSICAL GUEST] The Mighty Mighty Bosstones

Great song. I was happy they sang it and that they were on this show. Good selection for the musical guest.

Grade: A

[SKETCH] Goth Talk

This isn't really a good skit. Jim Breuer and Farley were entertaining as Chris Kattan's brother and his friend. The "Budweiser frog" bit was well done.

Grade: B-

[SKETCH] The Sally Show

Awesome!! Ana Gasteyer did a good job as Sally. Cheri Oteri and Tim Meadows were good at their characters. But the best character (best acted) was Chris Farley as the "Baby." And I mean baby. He was huge. The highlight was when he ripped off Tim's arms and started to beat him with them. Classic!

Grade: A

[SKETCH] Hank Williams Jr. records Monday Night Football song

A good skit to put at the end of the show. Well-written but it ran too long.

Grade: C

[SKETCH] The Super Fans ... where are they now?

Well another skit that had a handful of cameos (Robert Smigel, George Wendt, and Mike Ditka). Even though it was at the end of the show it was still funny to watch. Ditka did a great job as he told Farley that he wasn't the coach of the Bears anymore but the coach of the Saints.

Grade: B-

[SKETCH] El Nino fights on The Weather Channel

Pretty funny to put at the end of the show.

Grade: C+

OVERALL:

The best show of the season so far. I was looking forward to him hosting for such a long time.

Grade: A
