Chris Farley / The Mighty Mighty Bosstones
October 25, 1997

[OPENING] Farley gets permission to host

Absolutely hilarious. It was good to see Chevy back on the show.

Grade: A+

[MONOLOGUE] Chris Farley

It was cool to have three mini-monologues. Chris Rock really is on more than when he was on the show. Two words: "super-bad sponsor."

Grade: A+

[COMMERCIAL] Yum Bubble Genital Herpes Gum

The most stupid commercial I have ever seen. I did not laugh at all.

Grade: F

[SKETCH] Morning Latte

Ferrell and Oteri just click really well in every sketch they are in together. "How funny is that?" Very.

Grade: A+

[SKETCH] Mary Katherine Gallagher

Farley as a shy Catholic schoolboy? He pulled it off really well, and had some of the best dance moves I've ever seen.

Grade: A+

[COMMERCIAL] Martha Stewart: Living promo

It was pretty good ... nothing really bad about it, but I just didn't think it was that funny.

Grade: B

[SKETCH] Matt Foley: Motivational Speaker

An incredible sketch. Classic Farley. Nonstop laughs.

Grade: A+

[WEEKEND UPDATE] with Norm MacDonald

Good jokes, but Norm needs to learn how to deliver them. Stop trying to make up for poor delivery by telling audience to laugh because Farley needs a break. Morgan's commentary was good, I like it when people can make fun of themselves.

Grade: C

[MUSICAL GUEST] The Mighty Mighty Bosstones

Good song, but could somebody get the guy a throat lozenge? Poor performance counteracts the good song.

Grade: C

[SKETCH] Goth Talk

It was cool that the host wasn't the special guest on the show, but rather one of Glen's friends. The role fit Farley perfectly.

Grade: A

[THE LOST DEEP THOUGHTS] by Jack Handey

Decent, but not really up to the usual standard.

Grade: B

[SKETCH] The Sally Show

I didn't stop laughing the whole way through. The "special pants" was a nice touch, as was the arm ripping, shoe biting, plant tipping, mom tossing, etc.

Grade: A++

[SKETCH] Hank Williams Jr. records Monday Night Football song

Pretty good, a bunch of laughs. It was Farley being wild as usual, plus a softer side that we all enjoyed.

Grade: A

[SKETCH] The Super Fans ... where are they now?

I laughed my head off. Farley knows how to have a heart attack. Nacho Cheese glue? What else?

Grade: A+

[SKETCH] El Nino fights on The Weather Channel

Whoever thought of this sketch should get an Emmy. Classic material: "Weather vs. Wrestlers." "Yo soy El Nino!!!"

Grade: A++

OVERALL:

An instant classic. Farley is the best host so far this season, and it was the funniest show in a long time. Not having Norm in any skits sure helped, but it was Farley's overall presence that gives the show a ...

Grade: A+
