Chris Farley / The Mighty Mighty Bosstones
October 25, 1997
[OPENING] Farley gets permission to host
Hilarious. Chris Farley was great. I loved it when he tried to break the table.
Grade: A
[MONOLOGUE] Chris Farley
Great ... best monologue I've seen in a long time. Tim Meadows, Chris Rock, and Chevy Chase were all great.
Grade: A+
[COMMERCIAL] Yum Bubble Genital Herpes Gum
Not very funny.
Grade: D
[SKETCH] Morning Latte
Okay. Cheri Oteri was annoying but Chris Farley was pretty funny.
Grade: C+
[SKETCH] Mary Katherine Gallagher
Alright. I've seen better Mark Katherine Gallagher skits. Jim Breuer was funny.
Grade: B
[COMMERCIAL] Martha Stewart: Living promo
Not bad, but it lacked a descent plot. Pretty funny though.
Grade: B
[SKETCH] Matt Foley: Motivational Speaker
One of the best skits of the night. It was great to see Matt Foley again.
Grade: A
[WEEKEND UPDATE] with Norm MacDonald
Not one of the best "Weekend Updates," but Norm is always funny. Tracey Morgan was pretty funny as "the other black guy."
Grade: B+
[MUSICAL GUEST] The Mighty Mighty Bosstones
Nat bad, but the musical guests are always the worst part of the show.
Grade: C+
[SKETCH] Goth Talk
Had no plot. One of the worst skits of the night. Will Ferrell was funny, though.
Grade: D+
[THE LOST DEEP THOUGHTS] By Jack Handey
Pretty stupid.
Grade: D
[SKETCH] The Sally Show
Funny skit. I loved the part when Chris Farley ripped Tim Meadows' arms off.
Grade: A
[SKETCH] Hank Williams Jr. records Monday Night Football song
Started off funny, but then it wouldn't go anywhere. Stupid ending.
Grade: C
[SKETCH] The Super Fans ... where are they now?
Decent skit. Mike Ditka was good and so was Chris Farley. But the beginning was pretty dumb.
Grade: B+
[SKETCH] El Nino fights on The Weather Channel
Okay skit. Didn't really have much of a plot but Farley and Kattan were both hilarious.
Grade: B
OVERALL:
The best episode of the season so far. I have been waiting for 3 years for Chris Farley to host the show. I finally got my wish. Any show with Chris Farley is great, even though some of the writing was weak.
