David Duchovny / Puff Daddy featuring Jimmy Page
May 9, 1998

I feel this was one of the best episodes of the 97-98 season. David Duchovny is usually not thought of as a comedic actor, and probably never will be. But on SNL he showed his true versatility.

The opening skit, with Will Ferral as Janet Reno, was done very well. I thought that he seemed a little self-conscious, but that comes with the territory of doing live comedy.

The "Goat Boy" skit was kinda pointless, although it was amusing to see Mr. Duchovny go "baaaaa."

The Celebrity Jeopardy skit was great! I still repeat lines from this skit- it was tooo funny for me. I had taped this particular episode, and I still watch this over and over again. Duchovny playing Jeff Goldblum was odd, but it worked pretty well. ("I'll take the rapists." "THERAPISTS!")

The best skit that night was the cheerleader skit. Duchvoney was in top form when he played Dale, the cheer counsler. I still recite lines all the time from this skit, too. There was no "best" part to this skit- all of it was great. Cheri Oteri and Will Ferral were (as usual) wonderful supporting actors.

Well, that's my review! Email me with comments.
