Megan Mullally / Clay Aiken

Back after an extended period and with the knowledge that the Pats have won. I like the Ravens but since they got out early, I started to cheer for the Panthers and was pretty let down when they lost. Doesn't matter though since the game was rather boring overall. There hasn't really been a good game since 2001, Ravens vs. Giants. Their defense was awesome and the back-to-back kick-off returns were pretty cool. Hope next year is a bit more exciting at least.

Pre-Show Review:
Sean Hayes: Awesome. Eric McCormack: Bad. It can really go either way but I think Megan can pull it off. She's pretty funny in real life and I bet she can handle the SNL ways. And with Clay Aiken as the MG, it should be a good show. Ok, so I'm a Clay fan. Not a Claymate, mind you because I'm not that obsessed. I know he's going to do "The Way" as one of his songs but I don't know about the other one. If it's "Invisible", I'll kill someone since he's performed it enough times. If I get my way, it'll either be "Touch" or "Shine", two of his best songs. I doubt "I Will Carry You" will be done but I'll be a happy woman if one of those three are done. I also think he'll be in a sketch so I hope he won't screw it up. Not a pretty thing if you ruin a skit in front of millions of people.

COLD OPENING: Nightline (Members Involved: Darrell, Chris, Seth)
Like most cold openings these days, I keep on missing most of them for some reason or another. I turned the TV on in time hearing Lieberman wish that Queen Latifah or Katharine Bell was on stage exposing herself instead of Janet. Chris always does a good job with the impression and Seth's Kerry is funny also, so like the CO in the Elijah Wood episode, I'll give it the benefit of the doubt and say it was good.
GRADE: B

MONOLOGUE: (Members Involved: Megan, Horatio, Fred, Jimmy, Finesse, Kenan, Seth, Chris, Darrell, Will, Clay Aiken)
Just to clear this up, just because the guys behind Megan were supposed to be a gay chorus line doesn't mean Clay is gay. Anyway, this was pretty funny, better than most musical numbers. Her dancing was great (albeit weird) and I agree that the show is really the Jack and Karen Show. I know this may be a bit odd to hear me say this but I liked Karen's Ruben insult to Clay. It was just funny.
GRADE: A

Sketch 1: Celebrity Poker (Members Involved: Jimmy, Chris, Seth, Darrell, Horatio, Megan)
First off, Jimmy did a bad impression of Kevin Pollack. He's not that annoying and as far as I know, the only impression he does is Christopher Walken and it's a lot better than Jimmy's. Darrell's Geraldo was good, Horatio's Gene Shalit was disturbing as usual, they could've done a bit more makeup on Megan to make her really look like Tammy Faye and Seth's Carrot Top was also good. The parts I liked were when Tammy was preaching to God but then talking poker talk. Seeing Carrot Top finally breaking down was also good. Not as strong as I would've liked it to be but it got me laughing.
GRADE: B

Commercial: Huggies Thong (Members Involved: Maya, Rachel)
Now they're just overdoing it.
GRADE: N/A

Sketch 2: Momma's Boy (Members Involved: Seth, Amy, Megan)
That has to be the worst dream possible - watching your fiancée acting like a little kid in front of you to please his mom. Once again, this sketch made me laugh but it didn't jive with me that well since I hated the baby talk. Megan did well playing a bitch in front of Amy and the suggestion that Seth and Megan took showers together was wrong but hilarious.
GRADE: B

Sketch 3: Golden Globes (Members Involved: Amy, Megan)
I bet this is what every actor/actress wants to do while they're listening to a long, boring speech. The Sharon Stone impression was good and Megan putting the sticks up her nose and cucumbers on her eyes was the best part. And I'm glad the sketch ended with Megan punching Sharon; she deserved it.
GRADE: B

Sketch 4: Oprah's Favorite Things Birthday Edition (Members Involved: Maya, Rachel, Amy, Tina, Megan)
I'm glad they spoofed this because I'm sick of all those women going nuts over some presents Oprah gives away. Sure, they're nice but there's no need to cry over them. It's not like their world is being changed forever. Anyway, seeing Amy's head explode was the best and why one was humping another? I don't know but this was good.
GRADE: A-

Sketch 5: Black Actin' Cabbie (Members Involved: Megan, Kenan, Finesse)
Now this has to be one of the raciest sketches I've ever seen but for some reason, Megan pulled it off. It was a bit unnerving to watch but they could've done a whole lot worse than what really happened. It was funny seeing Finesse getting offended by Tupac though. Can't play with the emotions when it comes to Tupac.
GRADE: B

Musical Guest: Clay Aiken
I hate it when the shorter version of "Invisible" is performed and he shouldn't have even done it but it was good anyway.

Weekend Update with Jimmy Fallon and Tina Fey (Members Involved: Tina, Jimmy, Fred, Rachel)
- Bush, intelligence failure (score one for the writers)
- Lieberman's campaign long, silent and depressing enough to be declared a Jewish holiday (I'm Jewish but this one was hilarious)
- I hate Billy Smith but this one was shorter than the first time so thank god for that
- If anyone saw the auditions for American Idol, you would get Jimmy's joke (basically, he was impersonating this guy named William Hung and he got the impression down pat)
- Barbara Walters interviewing herself was a good idea
- Liked the filter thing
- A good mix of jokes and guests this time around
GRADE: A

Sketch 6: The Wizard of Oz (Members Involved: Amy, Maya, Horatio, Fred, Seth, Chris, Kenan, Will, Megan, Rachel, Darrell)
This only started to get funny when Dorothy realized she killed the Lollypop Guild. After that, it just got weird. Everyone did convincing Munchkin impressions and it was all pulled together when Darrell came in with a joint and a Pink Floyd album. Probably one of the best sketches of the season.
GRADE: A-

Sketch 7: Zinger vs. Slammer (Members Involved: Chris, Seth, Rachel, Megan)
I never thought this would be done twice but the second time was a whole lot better. The insults were pretty nasty and Chris acting all excited over Seth's zingers were just amusing. Wish I could remember all the zings and slams.
GRADE: B+

Musical Guest: Clay Aiken
"The Way" was expected but like "Invisible", it was unnecessarily shortened. The bastards.

Sketch 8: Can't Get In Without a Ticket (Members Involved: Amy, Kenan, Megan, Chris, Clay Aiken)
Honestly, this whole sketch sucked until Clay came in. I'm not saying this because I'm a fan of his. It was just weak until he came in as "Trey Aiken", with a Bloater Brother's wig on and sweet talked Amy into letting him in. He looked positively ridiculous in the getup but the way he acted was cute.
GRADE: B-

OVERALL GRADE: B. Definitely up there with the Justin and Elijah episodes but slightly lower. Megan did a great job and Clay did well in his sketch. I hope the writers keep it up for the next episode.

Best of the Night: Megan, Amy and Seth. They were all great and Seth was everywhere in that episode. He's finally getting the exposure he deserves this season.

Worst of the Night: No Jeff and there's speculations of him being fired. If he was, this would be one of the worst things Lorne has done since he fired Parnell (although he did come back half way through the next season).

Next Week: Drew Barrymore with Kelis as musical guest. Can't wait to review this action-packed episode --;

That's it for now. Cya guys later.
