Brittany Murphy / Nelly

By Katie

I didn't write a review last week because I had people at my house and I fell asleep after Weekend Update. I actually fell asleep with one woman singing and rapping and woke up with 4 guys doing the same thing, it was kind of weird. It took me a few minutes to realize that SNL hadn't run 5 minutes long and that I was watching Showtime at the Apollo, but that's ok, it was 1:00 in the morning, and I was tired, lol. Anyway, this week Brittany Murphy is hosting to promote her movie with Eminem, 8 Mile. If he hadn't been the musical guest last May, he would've been good tonight, as either just the MG, or the host and MG, but he's not. Nelly is the musical guest tonight and I really like his songs, it would be funny if he sang his song "Dilemma" with Kelly Rowland because 2 weeks ago Beyonce` was on with Jay-Z, so in 3 weeks 2 people from Destiny's Child would've been on the show. I know like no one cared, but whatever. Anyway, Mehki Phifer is hosting MAD TV to promote 8 Mile as well, so tonight is a good promoting night for the movie, not that it needs any, but that's ok. Well, lemme start with the review,Ķ

Hanukkah Song #3:
OMG, OMG, OMG. THIS WHOLE THING HAS TO BE IN CAPS BECAUSE IT WAS SO GOOD!!! I WAS JUST TALKING ABOUT HOW THERE SHOULD BE A NEW HANUKKAH SONG, AND BOOM, HERE IT, LOL. THE WEIRD PART IS THAT, BEING A GOOD JEW, I DOWNLOADED LIKE 10 CHRISTMAS SONGS TODAY, LOL. BUT WHEN ROB SCHNIEDER CAME OUT, I WAS IN SUCH SHOCK, I WAS LIKE OMG, THIS IS SO FRIGGIN GOOD! AND THE PICS THAT WENT ALONG WITH THE SONG WERE HYSTERICAL. THE BEST PARTS WERE THE THINGS ABOUT LITTLE KOSHER HOUSE ON THE PRARIE AND JENNIFER CONNELLY, LOL.

GRADE-A+++

Monologue:
Ok, no more caps. This was a good monologue, except where was Brittany Murphy. Oh, was that her in the background? Yup, think so, she like wasn't in this. I don't know if that was why this was such a great monologue though. The raps were so good, and funny, and Amy Poehler was hysterical. They're very into songs in the monologues this season.

GRADE- A

Welcome Back, Potter:
They got a new Harry! I don't know which one looks more like him though, I think Will Forte does. This was pretty funny and I turned away for a second so I missed some of the scenes in the middle, but other than that, it was funny.

GRADE- B+

The Leather Man:
This was friggin hysterical! But I think that's just because no one could keep a straight face, and Jimmy would always laugh when he knew something funny was coming up, so he like forewarned everyone. The end was so funny, as soon as he said "I have to do what?!" I was like, o god, you're supposed to suck out the venom, and look where he was bitten. He should've asked Brittany to do it, lol. This was definitely one of the better Leather Man skits.

GRADE- A

MSNBC-Donahue:
This was stupid, I didn't really watch much of it. But what I did watch was semi-funny. The really funny part was the whole Barbara Streisand thing, but other than that, not that funny.

GRADE- B (I'm being nice compared to my review)

***This has nothing to do with SNL, but the VISA Check Card commercial was so funny, those are great commercials***

Jarret's Room:
This was really funny. I like their "DJ"s whole '80s thing going on. Not like I remember the '80s considering I was only alive for 2 years of that decade, but it seems like I just missed out on one giant fashion flop. Anyway, enough about the '80s, was she drinking Red Bull, because that's what it looked like but I couldn't tell. Gobi's turkey pot pie was so funny, and when he started laughing because he got his own joke, I was like, wow, this guy NEEDS to stop smoking so much!

GRADE- A

CSPAN:
This was funny, and the way the butler was saying all his words was great. His wife really does look like a man though, lol. There were a couple funny lines, but it was pretty short.

BeSt LiNe~" Girls, she's gone, the princess is gone y'all."- Seth Meyers

GRADE-B+

Tennis Talk:
This was kind of random, but that's ok because it was really funny. Anna Kournikova's "boobings" were really funny, and the Williams' sisters were great. But poor Tracy and Dean, they are either playing stupid characters, background people, or women. Well, Tracy has made a good living doing that, so good for him. This was good for a random skit.

BeSt LiNe~ "Antiquated, that's a big word Russian Barbie."

GRADE- A
1st Musical Performance:
I was right about Kelly Rowland. I like how the song was different from the radio version, this one was better.

GRADE-A/A+

Weekend Update:
This was ok, not a great Update. This year hasn't been very good for Updates, last year: great, this year: not so great. Drunk girl was different this year, she wasn't as funny, but that's still a great character. This is just a little note to SNL: STOP SHOWING SO MUCH OF JEFF"S SKIN, NO ONE WANTS TO SEE IT! Ok, there were actually more funny jokes this week then in the past few, but they weren't like role on the floor and you can't stop laughing for 5 minutes funny. Well, I hope Update is better next time(oh no, that's 2 whole weeks! L)

BeSt LiNe~"It'll be the 3rd for Lopez, the 1st for Affleck and the last for neither."-TF
"Richard Gere and his long-time love have wed, so congratulations to Richard and Nibbles!"-JF

GRADE-A(just because there were 2 really funny jokes)

Astronaut Jones:
Wow, usually I HATE this skit because it is so stupid. But having Garrett Morris and Nelly in it was cool. What made it so funny was the line at the end, that was roll on the floor funny. It kinda caught me off guard, but omg, was it funny. This was probably one of the best, if not the best, Astronaut Jones I've seen.

GRADE- A(I never thought this day would come when AJ got an A!)

TV Funhouse:
This really wasn't funny. The only slightly funny thing was when one of the veggies was like I'm Armageddon outta here! But that was it, the rest was just stupid.

GRADE- B

Big Thick Novel:
NOOOOOOOOOO! Oh, wait, this wasn't that horrible, it just went on to long to realize that they were just square dancing. But this was a better BTN.

GRADE-D

~*~Next week- Kirsten Dunst and Eminem,Ķthere's Eminem! Lol~*~

2nd Musical Performance:
I didn't like this version of Hot in Herre as well because they didn't have the girl, they should've had Kelly fill in. Also, Jimmy made fun of this song at the VMAs in the FUNNIEST way and I think he should've come out when they said "Herre" and done it again, lol.

GRADE- A

Girl with no Gaydar:
HAHAHA, I love this skit, it's so funny. And adding the lesbian in it was great. Was this a new dance for the gay guys? I don't remember them jumping into the other guys' arms. But that dance itself is so great. This was just as good as the other ones and this should've been closer to the beginning.

BeSt LiNe~ "I guess my Rosie-odometer is off today."

OVERALL GRADE- A

Cast-Member Countdown-(I didn't count anyone but Will Forte for the HP thing because I missed some of it)

6 skits- Brittany Murphy (only 6?)
5 skits- Jimmy Fallon, Maya Rudolph, Tracy Morgan
3 skits- Chris Parnell, Horatio Sanz, Seth Meyers
2 skits- Rachel Dratch,Darrell Hammond, Chris Kattan, Will Forte, Dean Edwards
1 skit- Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, Fred Armison, Nelly, Garrett Morris

This was an interesting show. Brittany Murphy wasn't in that many skits. There were a few skits were she wasn't in them at all. The fact that Tracy Morgan was in almost as many skits as the host was shocking in it of itself. I didn't realize that the rest of the show would be like the monologue, meaning that the cast was the main focus of the skits and Brittany was for a few, but not entirely. Maybe that's why this show was so good. Also, I really think that this is Chris' last season because he has been in like no skits. Now we have to wait 2 WEEKS for a new show! But it's Robert DeNiro and Norah Jones, whose song I love, and Robert DeNiro is well, Robert DeNiro, 'nuff said right there. Well until December 7th,Ķ
