I have to study for midterms so I will make this review brief.
Here's my rundown of this season so far from best to worst:
Hugh Jackman B+/A-
Billy Bob Thornton B/A-
John Goodman B/B+
Jack Black B/B+
Seann William Scott B
Gwyneth Paltrow B-
Josh Hartnett B-
Reese Witherspoon B-
Derek Jeter C+/B-
Ellen DeGeneres C+
Drew Barrymore C+
Where will Britney fit into this list? Let's find out.
I have known many Mormons, and none of them have ever tried to convert me or anyone else. So I don't know what this was supposed to be about, other than the fact that the Olympics are in Salt Lake City.
LIVE FROM NEW YORK, IT'S...
I can summarize this monologue in a quote from Britney Spears:
"This isn't cool, seriously. This is not cool."
I gave this a A- in the Hugh Jackman Episode. One grade point deduction every time they rerun it.
BRIAN FELLOW'S SAFARI PLANET
This was OK, but becoming tired. I hope they don't run this into the ground because the last time they did it was hilarious.
Brian Fellow needs to do something different.
My prediction: Crossroads is going to be the biggest flop since Glitter
I suppose this would have been funnier if I had actually played with Barbie dolls.
Nevertheless, I thought it was pretty decent.
Maybe because I do play with collectible Hobbits.
Oh dear, the thing we all feared has happened.
Jarret's room has been run into the ground.
Warning to the writers: If you can't make the next one funny, END this sketch now.
This was not THAT bad, but drastically worse than previous JR's.
Hm, this has already been done on almost every comedy program.
It was slightly amusing, but not that funny since I saw the same thing on Letterman, The Daily Show, and a bunch of other programs.
Pretty standard Martha Stewart stuff.
She's not a girl?? Ahhhh!!
It's the Crying Game all over again!!!
Anyhow the song was slightly better than mediocre.
And they got rid of that annoying "Brought to you by Budweiser".
WHOA. Jimmy has gone all out this week and made his hair EXTRA messy. Dude, just cut it short or something. Or buy some gel or something.
This was the best Weekend Update in about 4 or 5 episodes! Yes they went through a bit of a slump there, but the old hilarious Fey/Fallon WU is back again!
All the jokes were funny, especially Presidential Fight Club and Fear Factor. Seth's "Joke Palindrome, Point Valid!" was totally unexpected and made me laugh! Darrell's Geraldo was dead on and kicked ass. Jimmy's songs were funny too. The best part of all was Will's Neil Diamond, it is scary how realistic he sounds! I would love to see Neil Diamond do a cameo some night. Gay speed-skating Hitler was great too!
This was very short and kind of stupid, but funny as hell! Tracy gets all the best one-liners.
The only funny part of this was Will as "Spuzz".
The rest was blah.
CHANNEL 9 NEWS
This was somewhat funny, but kind of disjointed. They needed something to really make the bit. Horatio should have done something funny and crazy. It was still OK.
MUSICAL GUEST 2
Can you say lip sync? I will grade this relative to the worst musical guest ever, Bubba Sparxxx.
This was only made funny by "Chu-chu".
Jimmy and Horatio should make a buddy movie together.
I bet it would be hilarious.
Wow, I think we have a nomination for worst episode of the year so far. I know many people will put this as the worst. I'm not sure if it was worse than the Drew Barrymore episode though. At least Britney did a good job. What the hell were the writers thinking though? Maybe they are on strike. This episode was saved only by a good update and some good impressions by Darrell and a funny bit by Tracy.
