Gwyneth Paltrow / Ryan Adams
November 10, 2001

Well, last time Gwenyth hosted, I have to say it was a good episode. But remember, that was back in the 98 season. This is the 01 season, and we all know how it's going so far. After a great episode last week, it'll be hard to beat this week, but they can still make it good. Other than that, not much to say; we'll see what happens

[COLD OPENING] Dubya Addresses the Nation and the Al Jezzera community

It's about time we got him back. SNL is again at the point were they can make fun of him. The myth after myth was very funny, especially the one about the Arab women with mustaches. Saying each number in Spanish also helped out this sketch. A bit above average the normal Dubya opening.

RATING: 8.5/10

[MONOLOGUE] Gwenyth Paltrow

Well, many of the monologues this year have sucked big time, and this one was no exception. The steak continues with horrible monologues. Very few laughs were found, and, even though I don't like her, it was good to see Maya in some dialogue. I did find funny the joke about Gwenyth playing a beauty queen and Maya playing her maid.

RATING: 4/10

[SKETCH] Sully and Denise

I have actually always found this sketch funny in a way. It was funny to see them in a prom type atmosphere, and I knew that Jimmy would have Nomar written all over his jacket. Horatio was funny as usual, and the part were the camera women asks Jimmy to cock his head back, and then keeps saying that; a good laugh. A decent way to begin the show

RATING: 7/10

[SKETCH] Gemini's Twin

I really never liked these sketches, mainly because of Maya, but as many people know, I think Ana is one of the funniest on the show and underused. The part were Gwenyth had to change her name, and then Ana saying it makes her look more ethnic; classic! A great line. This sketch had a few laughs, another one being when they asked Gwenyth to join Gemini's and she said shes never heard of them. I laughed a bit there.

RATING: 6/10

[SKETCH] The Attebury's

Wow. I can't believe I'm seeing this again. I liked it better when it was done with Mark McKinney back in 96, mainly because I liked him better in this role, but Ferrell was okay. Ana really made this funny, and it was great to see Will getting pissed off. Without the turbine, you look like one of the good ones. Haha! The ending were Kattan said he was going to ride a camel to go polish his magic lamp was funny too.

RATING: 7.5/10

[T.V. FUNHOUSE] Michael Jackson

Holy shit! I was laughing my ass of throughout the entire thing. I pissed my pants when I saw Marlon Brando there and couldn't make out a word he was saying. When he was proving to everyone he didn't like boys anymore by saying "don't want sex little fella, not gonna fondle you." This was a classic Smigel, and hands down one of the best in a long time!

RATING: 9/10

[MUSIC] Ryan Adams

Before this week, I had no clue who he was. Boy, this was a great song. Within the first 20 seconds, it sounded a lot like The Who's Won't Get Fooled Again. This was a great song, but he only got one song on the show. Lenny was AWESOME in this.

RATING: 8/10 (most people are catching on to what music I like)

[WEEKEND UPDATE] With Jimmy Fallon and Tina Fey

Well, Weekend Update has been on a roll lately. Many of the jokes were funny, especially the Geraldo Rivera and the Army recruit slogan. The pizza party bit sounded stupid at first, but then once I got the jist of it, it was actually pretty funny. All of the commentaries sucked this week, and Horatio's was pointless and dumb, but I did laugh when he drew bin Laden as a dick. Darrell really sucked tonight (I don't say that often at all) and it seems like he's been mixing up his impressions, like in this when he said he was mayor for life, problem solved, he did the Arnold Schwartzenegger had clap like he did in the Stiles episode. Not good at all, took of many there.

RATING: 9/10

[SKETCH] Dysfunctional Family Dinner

I've seen this beforeah yes, with SMG. This was actually funny, but few laughs were found. Gwenyth saying Shut up Biotch was great, too. Other than that, repetitive, but funny.

RATING: 6.5/10

[SKETCH] Mango

Mango never gets old as long as they have good ideas. Well, the ideas are starting to slip. This sketch was lame, but on the plus side Seth's Hugh Grant was great, I can see that on Celebrity Jeopardy?! Good to see Matt Damon appear in one of these sketches.

RATING: 5/10

[SKETCH] Fiesta Politica

Well, the end of the show, just some filler. This was actually kinda funny, and Horatio's camera zoom was great as well. It lost me at a few points, but ok. Why the hell does Tracy never get into good sketches?!

RATING: 3.5/10

[COMMERCIAL] My Big Thick Novel, by Jack Handey

Well, I'd hoped he'd get better ideas

RATING: 3/10

[GOODNIGHTS] Goodbyes

Well, we've improved to a whole 8 seconds now! (sigh)
