Derek Jeter / Bubba Sparxxx, Shakira
December 1, 2001

Pre-show thoughts: Derek Jeter? Oh no! He's a baseball player, not an actor! Athletes and acting does not mix.

Opening Sketch-Fine, I enjoyed the beginning part of it. Yet, after a while, it became a little tired. But, of course, anything with Dubya in it is funny.
Rating: B+

Monologue-I wished that the "audience" would have asked him questions, especially about his love life (::cough:: Mariah ::cough::). Him hitting baseballs and hitting people was ok. Yet, he should have talked more.
Rating: B

Preparation H Commercial-I was informed that they have given this commercial before, but it was the first time I saw it. Hilarious, of course. However, the camera effects were really killing my eyes.
Rating: A-

Iglesias Brothers-OK, this was too weird and too much to handle. It was entertaining, but too freaky weird. I would ever see it again.
Rating: C

Baseball Wives-I am still laughing. I knew that they were going to put Jeter in drag. "Tino is teeny." Like Jeter (excuse me, I mean Mrs. Soriano) said, I have studied that bulge. David Cone and David Wells (two of my favorite) as women was extra sweet.
Rating: A+

Massage-As I saw the skit, I wished that Derek's robe would fall off (sorry, perverted mind!). Chris Kattan was hysterical when he would sing and look into the camera. Kattan was also funny when he got on top of Jeter.
Rating: A

Dissing Your Dog-Will was funny. I wouldn't really approve of the commercial, but I do realize that it was done all in good fun.
Rating: B+

Taco Hole: It was good. The song was cool, I memorized most of it. Jeter's speech was ok as well. And the other guy (Sanz) did a good performance.
Rating: A

Dealing with Mom and Dad-(HeeHee) I loved Kattan in this. Derek was good too (in my opinion). I like the fact that they made Jeter look evil (beating kids up with bats, setting a girl's house on fire, that's funny).
Rating: A

Shakira-One of my favorite singers, even though I am not a big fanatic of her new album. "Wherever, Whenever" is a good song though. I am completely envious of her belly-dancing.
Rating: A-

Weekend Update-Hilarious as usually. I am rarely disappointed by Fey's and Fallon's performances. They are naturals. The counterpoint argument between Jeter and Meyers was cool. Yet, I wish they would have made Jeter's speech a bit more funny.
Rating: A

Osama: Sanz was the funniest one in this skit. Will's impression of Osama's was good, yet could have been better. What was funny was that they had a copy of the Harry Potter video.
Rating: B+

Man-Perm: It was ok. The part I like was when Derek was fixing himself in the mirror (even though he kept on looking into the camera) and when Maya Rudolph said that she was sad. I also liked Jeter's products pocket in his pants.
Rating: B

Bubba Sparxxx-Personally, I think he is not very good.
Rating: F

My Big Thick Novel-A waste of time.
Rating: F

After-show thoughts-Derek wasn't as bad as I thought he was going to be. For an athlete, he did a pretty decent job. Reading cue cards and still try to add emotion into the performance is not as easy as it looks. I would not mind to see him on the show again.

Best sketch-Baseball Wives
Worst sketch-Tie: Bubba Sparxxx and that damn novel.
