Preshow thoughts
Well the 500th original episode! From the host they picked, it will be disappointing crap or be a special guest spectacular! It was crap. Don't really care for Julia and with the outcome of the show I'm going to have to a do a half-assed review.
Martha Stewart's Living - Grade A
WHAT?!!! NO BUSH or CLINTON?!! Or even Cheney or Gore? Well it was a good one."You must be Irish, 'cause I'm Dublin." Perfect display of what St.Paddy's Day is like in America. Total opposite of whats happenin in Ireland.
Julia's Mono - Grade B-
She mentioned that this was the 500th, but Tracy came up and started talking. Tracy seems to have been mostly seen in monos more often. Just more Tracy Morgan/white-black people jokes.
Homocil [re-aired] - Grade B-
Not as funny as the first.
Wake Up Wakefield - Grade B+
This was a good opening. Meigan and Sheldon are pure junior high stereotypes. Well jr.high students is a big target audience for SNL. I thought it was a pretty well done sketch, reminded me of life back in jr.high. Funny when Sheldon (Rachel) did his 'signing off thing'. This has a good potential for a reacurring sketch for Maya, Rachel and maybe Jimmy.
Post Office - Grade B+
Kinda expecting. I thought it was a good effort but was too predictable. You could just tell that Parnell was going to get taken away, just like last time. Jerry was in it a little more. Maya tried to have a 'funny little' pharse that she could use again, but it was all recyclement from the last sketch. The next time they do this, it shouldn't be as predictable.
Weekend Update - Grade A-
Once again, WU stands out as a quality part of the show. Some funny sketches. Looks like when theres any stalker jokes, Tina will be the 'stalker'. Darrell as Arnold was hillarious. "Find a woman with big hips, in the mid-west, climb up her womb, then come out waving the American flag!" David Copperfield as the big 500th Show Special Guest? Who did Lorne-o piss off at NBC? And I bet whoever screwed up with the effects was fired."Its choas."
1932 Hollywood - Grade B+
Just a stupid sketch, but was funny sometimes. Hopefully Kattan's character won't appear again. (I'm saying that, hoping that this wasn't already one.)
Better Off Office - Grade B+
"I'm giving you a raise." This was a funny sketch, but it sends you the message that, we are all better off.
SNL Digital Short By Adam McKay - Grade A
Well in terms of being a SNL short film it was good, but it wasn't that funny. The funniest part was when the 'dummy dog' jumped off the balcony and onto Will.
Amateur Night - Grade B
I'm starting to think it was amateur week at SNL. The only thing that saved this from getting a B- was Tracy saying, "...Did you ever meet a girl, whos teeth was clean but her tongue was dirty." Only thing.
Willy Slugs Eyepoppers - Grade C+
Down the crapper. Poor atempt.
Is that it? I stopped writing down the skethes after that?
Happy St.Patrick's Day from Guiness and ? - Grade C-
I forgot about this. Just a excuse to for Jimmy to have some beer before the after show party.CRAP!
Overall Show Rating - Grade B-
Disappointment. The 499th (conan) and 500th (julia stiles) basically sum up SNL's first 500. Either its great or crap. But whos to blame? Host or writers? Kinda both.
Well ALEC BALDWIN host next. should be good.
