Tom Green / David Gray
November 18, 2000

For a while, I forgot who was going to be on the show, but then it came
to me while I was painting the house. I didn't know whether to paint the
walls gray or green, and well, you know the rest.

PRE-SHOW THOUGHTS:
I was afraid that Tom Green would host the show because of his success
that he doesn't deserve. He's an overpaid jackass. Tricks like that
belong in the school cafeteria, not on TV. Tom comes from Canada, the
same Canada that gave us Bryan Adams and Ben Johnson. You can e-mail me
to share thoughts like this with me and start the Tom Gren Hate Club. Do
you actually like this drivel? Are you some kind of immature freakazoid,
like Tom?
At least David Gray will be on the show. I've heard he's very good. This
part will be worth watching.

COLD OPENING: GORE AND BUSH
Were those people really the Florida Supreme Court justices? I thought
it was funny when they both sang "I got you babe" and they had to
interrupt the program 3 times. Favorite line by Dubya-"So what if they
say I'm a boozer? At least I'm not a stinking sore loser!"

MONOLOUGE: TOM PROPOSES TO DREW
This was .... amusing. Not a funny monolouge, but the wedding will be
worth seeing. It was nice to see Tom's parents and Drew show up.

COMMERCIAL: MAGIC MOUTH
From the Dana Carvey episode. I thought they wouldn't rerun any
commercials this season. This would be a great invention. But wouldn't
it still smell pretty bad? "Pfft-Did you see Charlie Rose last night?"

THE BALD EAGLES
This was funny, but it got too gross at the end when Tom frenched Will
Ferrel. Was this supposed to happen? Then again, what do you expect from
Tom Green?!

RAP STREET
The first new recurring charachters of the new season... Grandmaster Rap
(Jerry Minor) and Kid Shazzam (Horatio Sanz)! I actually like that kind
of old-school rap. It was funny when they had the tribute to Ezikiel
Thomas, also known as "The Rappin' Kid", died at 87. He was shot, with
20cc of medicine. Tom was funny as the Canadian Rapper and I liked it
how Maya Rudolph was a Dido-like singer. Maya can really sing!

LORNE AND TOM IN A TUB
Strange. I liked Lorne's comment: "That's funny."

ELECTION COVERAGE
This was strange. That reporter (I don't remember his name) was
CRAZZZZZZZZZZZZY! It was good.

TV FUNHOUSE-SEX AND THE COUNTRY
This was what I heard was cut from the season opener, although it was
credited. How low can Smigel go? He's done a pair of gay superheroes,
George and Barbra Bush doing the nasty in a hammock, and now
interspecies sex? (Yes, that is a word-interspecies, when two different
species have sex). It was just bizarre when the farmers did it with the
animals! Well, you can get lonely out there.

DOG SHOW
Tom was wacky as a wizard. That pig scared the bejesus out of Rocky
Balboa, as you can tell by the way that the dog was shaking. PETA will
be on SNL's butts for days on end!

WEEKEND UPDATE WITH JIMMY FALLON AND TINA FEY
It was nice to see some jokes that weren't about the election. But what
ruined this was the bad comedienne and that Jimmy stumbled on the Linda
Tripp joke. I did like it when Gwyneth Paltrow appeared to prove Jimmy's
bizarre claims. This would be a funny sketch idea- The Weekend Update
Couple! Tina's a mature, responsible newsanchor, Jimmy could care less!

MUSICAL PERFOMANCE: DAVID GRAY-"BABYLON"
This was a good song. Gray should win a Grammy for this. He should be
best new artist, because he is!

OPRAH
Okay, Maya Rudolph doesw a good Oprah impression, one that can replace
the departure of Tim Meadows. And it was nice to see Tom as a normal
person. But this just wasn't funny. Sadly, I can't think of an analogy
for this sketch like Dr. Phil!

VH1 STORYTELLERS-AIR SUPPLY
Actually, Air Supply would have been a good musical guest for SNL in the
80s. Will Ferrel got frenched twice this episode! It was nice to have
one mention of Thanksgiving, at least. Not enough mention of the
holiday.

ROCK AROUND THE CLOCK
This wasn't funny. It was just dumb. Tom wrecked both the clock and the
song.

DREW STANDS UP TOM AT HIS WEDDING
Serves you right! I wasn't sure whether or not Drew meant to not show
up, and if it was a joke or not, and then I heard that Drew really
wasn't ready for marriage and wanted to be married next summer. Okay.
However, I hear she's been sniffing around Adam Sandler!

OVERALL REVIEW:
This ws a good episode, with a lot of surprises, and I liked it that
they had some cameos, making this the fourth show this season to do so,
but some of it was unfunny and gross. I like Tom better when he's clean.
I might watch it again, but probably the edited version on Comedy
Central. And what happened to the Mango sketch that was in sketch
spoilers? They should have had that and another David Gray song instead
of Rock Around the Clock and the Oprah sketch.

NEXT SHOW THOUGHTS:
It would be worth seeing Val Kilmer and U2 on the show. They have been
in show buisness for a while, so it's long overdue. Also, it's long
overdue for a Mango sketch or a Celebrity Jeoprady sketch!

Until next episode: this is Tony DuMont reminding you to eat your
school, stay in teeth, and brush your vegetables! Also, I hope you've
had a happy Thanksgiving like I did!
