Lara Flynn Boyle / Bon Jovi
May 12, 2001

Howdy! Eli Krenik here with another Saturday Night Live episode review! Yay! This week Lara Flynn Boyle is host, with Bon Jovi as musical guest. I don't know much about LFB except that she's on the Practice, which I've seen once maybe. Bon Jovi isn't too shabby. Onward to the review!

[OPENING] Dick Cheney rambles on about energy conservation

I didn't despise this sketch but I was hoping for something better. I'm pretty sure this is Darrell's last season so I s'pose they have to squeeze him in as much as possible. I did enjoy some parts, like Darrell's facial expressions and Cheney only using 2.1 calories of energy.

Grade: B-

[MONOLOGUE] Lara Flynn Boyle

If some of Adam McKay's films were more like his audience member bits I bet there would be much better reactions and reviews. I liked the pizza / sandwich / grapes thing and the Jack Nicholson deal. Not bad.

Here's Johnny!
LFB: I get ityou're doing Jack Nicholson.
Adam: No I believe YOUR the one doing Jack Nicholson!

"I stand corrected but I think you need to chew your food better."
--Adam McKay upon seeing the contents of LFB's stomach

Grade: A-

[COMMERCIAL] Corn Chip Nail Tips

Yeah we get it. Corn chips as nail tips. You don't need to show this commercial fifty times to get that through!

Original Grade: If you really want to know this grade try another reviewchances are this commercial was shown on that one.

[SKETCH] <cough> <jiggle> <cough> <jiggle>

I thought this sketch wasn't too bad <cough> even if it did get a little <cough> old and <cough> repetitive. <cough> The fact that <cough> the three people weren't <cough> really doctors <cough> was funny as hell. <cough> Owmy testicles.

Grade: B

[SKETCH] DeMarco bros.

This was swank. It was the best DeMarco brothers sketch next to the Britney Spears one. The reenactment thing was the best and also thinking the dance moves were "seizure," and when the two Bon Jovi guys cracked up (unintentionally?) Me likey.

Grade: A-

I always love little five second mini-sketches. Kattan's Robert Downey, Jr. needs work but I didn't care because this was funny.

Grade: A

[COMMERCIAL] Save the Starving Actresses

Funny, but dragged on waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too long, just like that last word.

"Dear Ms. Johnson, thank you for the fruit roll ups you sent. I wore them to the Golden Globes."
--LFB, reading a letter from a supporter

Grade: B+

[SKETCH] The Scarlet Letters

This got very old very quick until Will Ferrell came in. He is so g*ddamn funny. I was watching this with my little 10 year old brother and he didn't get it at all. Maybe it's for the best.

Grade: A [because of Ferrell]

Not awful.

Grade: N/A

[WEEKEND UPDATE] with Jimmy Fallon and Tina Fey

Hee hee. Jokes are funny. I've heard Lou Reed's music before and it never seemed like punk. I like it but I think it's more rock than anything. Lou could've done more but I liked his commentary.

Grade: B+

[COMMERCIAL] Moulin Rouge!

I loved it. Since I can't write reviews worth sh*t I'm just gonna leave it at that.

Grade: A

[SKETCH] MSNBC Investigates

This was so freakin lame but so freakin funny. Nice parody of those media losers who are all "Cancel TV!" blah blah blah

NOTE if Jackass gets canceled I'm gonna be pissed

Grade: A

[SKETCH] Wake Up Wakefield!

Grade: D

[MISC] A Message from Shaquille O'Neal

I am soooooo out of words right now.

"When I said Tyra Banks got off on seeing me in a big diaper, I was joking. She didn't enjoy it at all."
--Tracy Morgan as Shaquille O'Neal

Grade: A-

I like this song.

Grade: N/A

[SKETCH] Bloater brothers

This guys are pretty cool I guess.

Grade: A-

A pretty decent show. Sorry about the review I just can't think of what to write anymore. L8R.
