NBC Press Release

NEW YORK -- April 6, 2004 -- Notorious "American Idol" judge Simon Cowell will be special guest on the April 10 episode of "Saturday Night Live" featuring Janet Jackson as host and musical guest.

Prior to his international fame as a brutally candid judge on the hit talent show, Cowell's music career in the last 10 years as a BMG record executive has been making and breaking records. Cowell has achieved sales of over 25 million albums, over 70 top 30 records and 17 number 1 singles.

Cowell joins international music sensation Janet Jackson who hosts the April 10 episode of "Saturday Night Live" as well as serving as the show's musical guest, performing tracks from her new record "Damita Jo."

This is Jackson's first hosting appearance on the show (she served as musical guest in 1994.). Jackson joins a distinguished group of musicians who have done "double duty" on the show, including Paul Simon, The Rolling Stones, Ray Charles, Stevie Wonder, Dolly Parton, Garth Brooks, Sting, Jennifer Lopez, Britney Spears and most recently Justin Timberlake.

Jackson is a multiple Grammy and MTV Award-winning performer, whose multi-platinum albums from "Control" to "All For You" have sold more than 50 million copies worldwide.

A peerless live performer, her 1990 "Rhythm Nation" tour remains the most successful debut concert tour in history. Among her multitude of honors is the inaugural MTVicon Award, which saluted her career achievements in 2001.

Jackson is also an experienced actress with credits ranging from childhood roles in such TV classics as "Good Times" and "Diff'rent Strokes" to her adult roles in "Poetic Justice" opposite the late Tupac Shakur and "Nutty Professor II: The Klumps" opposite SNL alum Eddie Murphy.
