The Ready-for-Hollywood Players

How 'Saturday Night Live' graduates made their marks in Tinseltown

By Eric Mink

Over the weekend, Mike Myers' comedy "Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me" blew George Lucas' kiddie space epic "Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace" out of first place at the box office. Ten days from now, Adam Sandler's new romantic comedy, "Big Daddy," will enter the fray. Mike Myers in 'Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me' Myers and Sandler share a common heritage: Both are former "Saturday Night Live" cast members who have moved on to feature films - just like John Belushi, Dan Aykroyd, Bill Murray, Joan Cusack and others before them.

While some have enjoyed critical success as well - Aykroyd in "Driving Miss Daisy," Murray most recently in "Rushmore" - we've culled the accompanying list of "SNL"-related movies from the 500 top-grossing pictures (domestic) of all time. Some are admittedly marginal calls; Murray wasn't exactly a major player in "Tootsie."

Even so, tracing the "SNL" connections is a lot of fun. Our source: Chuck Kahn's exhaustive Internet database.
