Anyone see it yet? I saw it Sunday night. Thought it was pretty good. Stripped of any Hollywood-ness and it successfully made me sleep like sh*t.

Frigging brilliant. I didn't see the theatrical cut though (I saw the original un-Spielberg'ed version), but it was still brilliant.

I enjoyed it thoroughly too. So after I saw it (the Spielberged version) I came home and IMDBd the movie only to realize that Spielberg actually did 'Spielberg' it after the first version. So how was the test version you saw? I think I read how it went. Wasn't it a little more graphic?

On the other hand - my friend I went with thought it was boring too. But he actually had his eyes closed for the final 'throw' at the very end, whereas I jumped.

I'm not so keen on the sequel I keep hearing about.

Well, here's the version I saw...

* The final "throw" never happens. The ending is completely different, and a lot longer. It also eliminates the possibilty of a sequel.
* The 'drone' when the demon appears is missing - you actually hear the demon speaking, which is a lot creepier.
* The back story about Dianne is elaborated on further, including more graphic details of her exorcism.
* The scene with Katie and Micah finding the shattered photo wasn't added yet.

I haven't seen the theatrical cut (save the ending), but apparently the effect of Katie's distorted voice towards the end is different.

I thought the movie was hilarious. Shoulda been classified as Comedy-Horror. Anyway, I thought it was really good, but it didn't scare me like I hoped it would. I've never sen a horror movie that has scared me and everyone kept telling me this would be the one. I went with three people (One girl's name is Katie) and they were scared, so it was fun messing with them afterwards. They kept asking me not to talk about the movie.

"You're the one that brought him here, not me." "Oh that's great, I'm going to bed" "Fine, you go hang out with your friend upstairs, I'll be down here." I laughed really hard at that.
