This is Alec's first time hosting, but it certainly doesn't show. I give this episode an A+, a 100 percent, 10/10/, 4/4.

Bush Sr discusses the environment and likes to let his eye drops drip into his mouth, because there is marijuana in the drops.

Monologue
Alec charms the viewers with several ways to greet. What a weird sounding sentence. This guy has charisma, such a huge difference from most of the hosts we see nowadays...
Image
And hey, check out the heels on those shoes! Isn't he a tall guy already?
Image
I make GIFs now

Greenhilly
Everyone falls charm to Alec - all of them passionately making out with him while the music swells. First it's his tennis partner Jan, maid Victoria, siren Nora (who looks fantastic with the icy blonde hair, I think), to the master Phil and then a lost dog. This sketch is on the best of Alec DVD. When you watch it notice how Alec looks Phil up before making out with him.
Image
You're a happy little doggie, aren't you? Let's just find out who you belong to! (The way Alec says this is so funny)
Image

The Environmentally Conscious One
Alec Baldwin plays Marlon Brando in this fictional movie of a tough biker and his buddies. He is very environmentally conscious and will bully people who aren't living as eco-safely as he. "A styrofoam cup! Don't you know what these do to the ozone layer?!"
Image
"Pampers? You know what these do in a landfill?!"

The Garbo I Knew
If there was ever a Best of Jan Hooks DVD, this would probably show up on it. Jan's Greta Garbo doesn't want to speak to someone who calls, so she has her servant Alec take the call. He has to ply answers to the caller, by correctly guessing what she is acting out. I suck at describing things. Hey, here's a transcript - http://snltranscripts.jt.org/89/89rgarbo.phtml Such a funny sketch, and I've never heard anything about it until getting my hands on this episode.
Image

Only in New York
Nora and Phil are Cindy and Joey Adams. The short and abrupt "jokes" Joey tells with disinterest are the best part of this sketch.
Image

Weekend Update with Dennis Miller
Kevin Nealon reports from 10 feet away. I always like Dennis' update, so...*flips hair* Ha ha!
Image

The Nude Talk Show
Jon Lovitz is an ambitious creator of a television show, The Nude Talk Show - his dream is to talk to people naked. This sketch is a cheesy, feel-good "if you can dream it, you can do it" piece. I love Jon's delivery of his lines, very sincere.
Image
I kind of remember reading that Conan O'brien (who appears in the sketch) wrote this? Did he? His name appears in the writer's credits at the end. It feels very "Conan."
Image

Sexual Tensions Diner
Another sketch on the Alec DVD, another sketch that would easily land on a Jan DVD. Jan's waitress is very sweet to the two 'slow' patrons, and very feisty with Alec's smart talking cowboy.
Image
You know something honey? You shouldn't give away your pie with breakfast... Makes you look cheap.

Middle-Aged Man
Mike Myer's superhero character. "AAAHHH!" I could watch the intro of MAM running down the street all day. He arrives to help a couple with their sexual problem, and passes along to them information about siding and painting he accrued in his middle age. His grandfather was Retired Man, but is now Dead Man.

This is my third or fourth review for this forum, so far I've chosen episodes that I've considered outstanding, this episode falls into my list of "Episodes I Consider Outstanding." I can't choose a favorite sketch from this episode.

HAHA your image host took down the nude talk show screencap cause it decided it was too dirty! Oh and I've seen it and this truly was a fantastic A++ ep. You forgot to mention in the review that the B-52s were awesome.
Who'd make up someone named Regina?!? It's the capital of Saskatchewan!

I just put it back up and if they take it down again, I'll host it somewhere else. I don't know why it was taken down, it's never happened to me when using Tinypic. Strange...

There really needs to be a Best of Jan Hooks DVD. She's just too good for there not to be. Definitely an underrated SNL alum these days.

Plus I had a huge crush on her in high school...

I do remember seeing this episode on Comedy Central quite a few years back...for some reason, I remember this sketch and "Greenhilly" quite vividly...thanks for posting this as well as the "Drunkman" and "Crosby Record Ad" sketches...I don't ever remember seeing those two, but they're both really solid, well written sketches...

That Greta Garbo sketch was awesome, wasn't it? Really a Lucy/Gilda-level classic.
