December 19

Derek Jeter returns. I know you guys hate athelete hosts but his episode was the first episode I actually watch all the way through, so i have a soft spot for him. Plus, I love the New York Yankees.

Wow. What happened here? This season started off relatively well. (Well, Ok, Megan Fox sucked, but Ryan Reynolds, Drew Barrymore, Gerard Butler, and Taylor Swift were all right). But after the January Jones debacle, we've got...Jon Bon Jovi (as host and musical guest  ) and Derek Jeter to look forward to? Not to mention a truly horrible selection of musical guests.

Derek Jeter/Jay Z and Alicia Keys? That's your Christmas show, really?

If this is true, he would become the first returning athlete host, no?
Who'd make up someone named Regina?!? It's the capital of Saskatchewan!

I remember the first time I was really getting into SNL, I saw Derek Jeter and Bubba Sparxxxxxxx were gonna host, and I couldn't be less interested in either of them. That ushered in an era of ick in the pantheon of SNL shit. I would say no one cares about athletes (especially in a comedic light), but sadly, it's not true.

How soon we forget The Rock used to act exclusively on canvas.

I thought about him and decided I can't, with a clean conscience, count pro wrestling as a sport.

Plus hadn't he moved onto acting by the time he first hosted?

Hell if I know for sure. I've never watched his movies or his fights before. But you're right, it could go either way. All I remember is that he brought that group of phonies* with him the first time he hosted.

* Ah, I see the confusion. "Phonies" aptly describes much of Hollywood and wrestling these days.

Can someone see if Haley Joel Osment is available? With maybe the Backstreet Boys as musical guests? I mean, seeing as how it's apparently ten years ago.

It...is ten years ago, isn't it, SNL talent bookers...?
