‘SNL’ Has Highest Rated Finale Since ’04
SNL‘s 36th season came to a close on Saturday with the highest rated season finale in seven years.
In overnight ratings, Justin Timberlake and Lady Gaga helped the show to a 7.0 rating / 21 share — up 21% from last year and equalling the same numbers brought in by the Olsen Twins and J-Kwon on May 15, 2004.
This is the fourth year in a row that SNL has ended the season by matching or improving upon the previous season finale ratings…
2010 (Alec Baldwin / Tom Petty) – 5.8
2009 (Will Ferrell / Green Day) – 5.4
2008 (Steve Carell / Usher) – 5.4
2007 (Zach Braff / Maroon 5) – 4.9
The last time an SNL season finale faired better was way back in 2000, when Jackie Chan and Kid Rock scored a 7.3 rating.
