‘SNL’ Scores Highest Ratings in 18 Months

Betty White’s triumphant turn as SNL host resulted in triumphant ratings.

Last night’s episode, with musical guest Jay Z and guest appearances from a bevy of former female cast members, averaged an 8.8 Nielsen rating and 21 share, according to preliminary local market data. It was the most watched SNL since the pre-election telecast of November 2008, which featured Senator John McCain alongside Tina Fey as Sarah Palin.

SNL was the highest rated program on any network Saturday night, outpacing everything in primetime.

In a related note, ABC plans to add Betty White to all future NBA coverage.
